Warning: Being super transparent in this blog.
Today’s open mindedness blog is about false positivity and emotions.
As a blogger and as a person, there’s this weird connotation that you have it all together. Some people see me and think I got it all together but that is not the case– I don’t have it all together.
In fact, I’m currently experiencing burnout.
It’s the middle of the semester and I’d be lying if I said I am not feeling overwhelmed.
I’m not going to “fake” being positive about this.
What are bad emotions? What are good emotions?
Does that form of categorizing exist or is it just subjective?
School is literally taking everything out of me right now and I don’t know if it’s because it’s online or what. I feel like all that I do is sleep, pray, eat, class, study, work, and repeat. I feel like I don’t have enough time for myself. I don’t remember when’s the last time I treated myself! All I know is that I’m over it.
Lately, I’ve been trying to identify what are the sources to my emotions and why I feel the emotions that I feel.
Labeling and identifying the source of emotions one is experiencing allows us to understand the ‘why.’
Sometimes the ‘why’ isn’t as visible and obvious like we think it is- so we have to dig for it.
Do you know why it’s important to identify emotions?
Because when we ignore our emotions and allow them to pile up inside of us, we will eventually reach our breaking points.
Don’t you notice how our vibes change when we feel certain emotions? Don’t you notice how we AREN’T “ourselves” when we feel certain emotions?
Think About This Question:
When we’re “holding in” our emotions, do we ever think of who pays the price?
Hint: It’s not just us!! The piling of emotions also affects those around us!
Trust me, I’ve seen what built up emotions can do to people and it’s not pretty.
A lot of times people hurt other people because they are hurting themselves. Read that again.
Please have the courage to allow yourself to feel your emotions, (not out on people of course but through different outlets).
Stop pretending to be okay all the time when you’re not. I’m not discouraging positivity but don’t fake it! It’s okay to not be okay!!!
Sources to Understanding Your Emotions Could be Through …
Are you someone who prefers to talk aloud about your emotions with people? If so, then get together with someone you trust and pour it all out.
Are you someone who feels calmer when you for a walk or have a sweat session? Then do it!
Are you someone who has to get a good cry out alone and then lift yourself back up? Have at it.
4) Faith/Spiritual – Based Outlets.
Are you religious or spiritual? Maybe forms of meditation may be the way to go.
Take the time to do something you genuinely enjoy just because you LOVE IT!
Listen, we all go through it. There will be times where we are emotional wrecks and we don’t have it all together.
My source of figuring out my emotions and the ‘why’ behind them is through writing. What’s yours?
Life is a combination of SEVERAL EXPERIENCES.
What do you mean by that Hadi 🧐?
Experience of failures. Experiences of meltdowns. Experiences of self-actualization. Experiences of issues. Experience of accomplishments.
Remember, YOU control your emotions, don’t let your emotions control you.
My challenge to you is to face your emotions. Figure out why you feel the way you do. Understand what triggers those emotions. Only then, will you be able to find ways to control them.
Take care ❤️
