Audiobook:
Natural Disasters, Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse, Domestic Violence, Medical Injury, Community Violence, Neglect, Deprivation, Traumatic Grief, Victim of Crime, Kidnapping, Accidents, School Violence, and Loss.
What is stated above can all be different forms of trauma. Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience (Google).
Here’s a question for you:
How often do we discuss the effects of trauma per individual?
Not enough!
Awoken By Hadi

I realized that I underestimated the power of trauma when I joined a Facebook live that discussed real testimonials of assault cases in the African community.
It wasn’t until then when I fully realized how detrimental and severe trauma affects can be on individuals.
The trauma can last a whole lifespan. The trauma can affect how the individual speaks, behaves, and thinks.
To be honest, it’s crazy how we’re so quick to assume people have toxic behaviors, ways of thinking, etc. but we don’t take into consideration that everyone’s story is different. Everyone’s form of trauma is different.
We don’t know what people have been through or how their experiences have shaped them.
With all that’s been going on in 2020, everyone is opening up about several different forms of assaults they’ve faced. I salute all the people who have the courage to speak up about their cases and spread awareness about these issues. It truly makes people reflect and focus on action-taking that’ll help lessen these traumatic experiences In Shaa Allah.
Because we aren’t fully aware of others’ past trauma (s), we must do our best to ….
1. Empathize with One Another.
2. Listen to Understand.
3. Analyze our Reaction Time (emotions can easily takeover).
Remember that just because I’d react a certain away, it doesn’t mean that someone else will react the same exact way; and vice versa!
Again, we all are brought up differently and faced diverse forms of traumas.
Here’s a Valuable Life Lesson:
Just because you see things one way, it doesn’t mean that it’s the only way. We should all input that into our heads.
We as humans don’t take enough consideration of how our past traumas follow us into the ways in which we speak, think, and behave.
I admit trauma is what shapes us and molds us into the people we are.
So let’s be gentle.
Let’s be considerate.
Let’s be a little less selfish.

This post reminded me of a tedtalk on childhood trauma and how, if left untreated, it leads to an entire spectrum of mental and physical health issues. Definitely something to think about.
